Yuri Gagarin

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (March 9, 1934 - March 27, 1968) was a Soviet cosmonaut and the first person to travel into space.

Yuri Gagarin studied at the Lyubertsy Vocational School from 1949 to 1951.

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin made the first manned space flight in history, which was a significant achievement for the country and had a profound impact on the development of space exploration. The flight took place on April 12, 1961, aboard the Vostok spacecraft.

Gagarin's flight gave a new impetus to space exploration in the world and the scientific and technological space race between the USSR and the USA in the 1960s and 1980s.

Nikolai Rastorguev

Nikolai Vyacheslavovich Rastorguev is a Russian singer, the leader of the band Lyube, and a People's Artist of Russia. He was born on February 21, 1957, in the village of Bykovo, Ramensky District, Moscow Region.

Nikolai Rastorguev, as a musician, singer, guitarist, and actor, has contributed to the development of Russian military-patriotic music, for which he received the Russian Ministry of Defense Prize in the field of culture and art (2023).

Nikolai Rastorguev performed on the stage of the Lyubertsy House of Culture, as his creative life began in Lyubertsy.

Rastorguev has also participated in political events, such as serving as a trustee for Vladimir Putin in the 2012 and 2024 elections and being a member of the Putin Team movement.

In addition, in 2024, the Nikolai Rastorguev Foundation, together with the Pride radio station, established and held the Music of the Proud patriotic song festival.

Nikolai Vlasov

Nikolai Ivanovich Vlasov (November 11, 1916, Petrograd, Russian Empire — January 26, 1945, Mauthausen, Austria) was a Soviet military pilot, a lieutenant colonel, and a Hero of the Soviet Union (November 23, 1942).

Military career

Nikolai Ivanovich Vlasov, a future Hero of the Soviet Union, began his combat activities at the Lyubertsy airfield during the Great Patriotic War.

Participated in combat operations from the very first days, was the commander of a fighter squadron on the Western Front.

Performed combat missions: accompanied bombers, stormed enemy troops positions, participated in repelling massive enemy attacks on Soviet defense facilities.

Personally shot down 10 enemy aircraft, one of them - as a result of an air ram.

On November 23, 1942, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his exemplary performance of combat missions and bravery.

Mikhail Mitrofanov

Mikhail Nikolaevich Mitrofanov (1928–1965) was a driver at the Glavtransproekt motor depot of the USSR Ministry of Transport Construction.

On December 16, 1965, Mitrofanov was returning home to Ukhtomka in his truck from a geological exploration expedition. On the "humpbacked" bridge over the railway, he noticed a ZIL-158 bus without a driver moving towards a cliff.

Mitrofanov overtook the bus and blocked its path to the cliff with his truck. The bus slowed down, but did not stop. Mikhail then grabbed a boulder and tried to place it under the wheel of the speeding vehicle.

Mikhail managed to stop the heavy bus and save the passengers, but only at the cost of his own life. He was killed by the bus.

Mikhail Mitrofanov was posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin. A street in Lyubertsy is named after him, and a bust monument has been erected near the Natashinsky Ponds.
